Lindsey James
Lindsey's journey into high-end custom show clothing began twenty years ago in a small college dorm room in San Luis Obispo, California. To support her passion for showing horses, she started designing and creating her own western show clothing—quickly developing an impeccable eye for detail and a passion for perfection.
Over the years, Lindsey’s craftsmanship has earned her a devoted following among top equestrians, who trust her to create custom pieces that blend elegance, performance, and artistry. Her signature mantra, "When Every Detail Counts," continues to define her approach, ensuring that every garment—whether for the show ring or beyond—is designed with precision and passion.
While her roots remain in the equestrian world, Lindsey’s reputation for exceptional design has led to opportunities beyond the arena. Most recently, her work caught the attention of global icons Beyoncé and Shakira, further showcasing her ability to create one-of-a-kind pieces that stand out on any stage.
Beyond the Studio
While designing is a big part of Lindsey’s life, it is far from the only thing. She cherishes time with her loving husband, Ish, and their two young boys, Beckett and Dawson, at her very own Coastal Equine Ranch. More than just the home of the Lindsey James brand, the ranch also houses LMJ Performance Horses and SLO Ranch Rentals, blending her passion for fashion, horses, and hospitality.
Lindsey’s love for animals is just as strong as her love for design. Her personal horse, Max, holds a special place in her heart, and her four dogs—Ammo, a chocolate lab, and three lively Frenchies, Olive, Ivy, and Twig—keep life at the ranch full of energy and joy. Whether she’s in the design studio, the arena, or simply enjoying time with her family and animals, Lindsey embraces every moment with the same passion and attention to detail that define her work.

Lindsey’s design journey began with her mother, who taught her to sew and still plays a role in the business today. Those early lessons in craftsmanship and precision became the foundation of the Lindsey James brand.
